Four-year-old boy needs 30 stitches after dog attack in Korat
NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand – A four-year-old boy required 30 stitches after a dog lunged at him and bit his head and left forehead in a community in Nakhon Ratchasima, leaving the child traumatised and his family demanding action as the animal remains at large.

The attack occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. on August 9 at Rom Yen Village, Moo 4, Soi 2, in Hua Thale subdistrict of Mueang district, where the Kindergarten 2 pupil had been playing with a group of four children, including siblings, when the dog entered the area and reportedly leapt at him, biting his head and left forehead so severely that blood streamed down his face before he ran to his grandparents for help and was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
The boy’s grandfather, 51-year-old Surachai, showed reporters the injury to the child’s head, where stitch marks remained clearly visible, and said his grandson has become frightened whenever he sees a dog and is no longer willing to go near one. The family attempted to identify the dog after the attack and learned it belonged to a nearby resident, with the owner initially denying ownership before later accepting responsibility and bringing the family 500 baht and some snacks as a gesture of comfort, saying they had no money and did not know how else to help.
Reporters who visited the area attempted to find the dog, believed to be staying in woodland near the community, but did not locate it, while residents expressed fear that the animal could return and attack another person, particularly a child. The boy’s family has asked relevant agencies to inspect the case and find a way to control the animal, as concerns grow over the lack of effective measures to address stray and aggressive dogs in residential areas.
